Cross-Eye 3D: Dizzy but “Wow!”

Today, I was attracted by something unusual. It was something new, a new experience for me to enjoy 3D photo with an extraordinary way. It is called cross-eye 3D photo, a 2D photo with 3D effect or famous with the name stereogram.

A stereogram is pair of two-dimensional panels depicting the view of a scene or an object from the vantage points of the right and left eyes. Observing the panels superimposed in a stereoscope results in the experience of three-dimensionality by virtue of the fact that object depth is encoded as right/left position difference in the panels. Because in a stereoscope one views a representation rather than a real scene, the word illusion is sometimes associated with a stereogram.

This photo(below) is called autostereogram(SIS: Single-Image Stereogram) which has the same concept with stereogram. I believed that autostereogram is more popular compared to stereogram because it oftenly been published in Ujang/Apo/Gila-Gila magazine when I was in secondary school.

p/s: If you look with the right technique, you will see a 3D shark in the colorful image.

Since it was called cross-eye 3D photo, you must cross your eye(julingkan mata) to see the hidden object. As I’ve told before, it use different way to see the image. If it is difficult for you to see the image, here I have only one tip for you:

Okay, here the tips on “How to See a Stereogram Photo”.

Look at those 2 dots with “B” letter. Try to cross your eyes until the third dot appears in between the 2 dots like this image below:

Here is where the letter “B” become very important. Make sure you see the letter “B” clearly. If you do, then that is the right technique to see a stereogram photo. Another tip is, for stereogram, the further your viewing location from the image, the easier for you to see the outcome but, logically the image will look smaller.
